Background: This service is announced by means of strategic funding from the Rector and involves a special focus on German linguistics, and above all research on the subject. During the first four years, research in the service includes 80%, while the other 20% consists of education. After the first four years, the service will be transferred to a regular lecturer with normal working conditions.

 

Description of the subject area: In Uppsala, teaching and research is conducted in the field of German with linguistics and literature studies, with close cooperation between language and literature researchers. As an employee, you work in a research environment with a broad interest in the connections between languages, literature and culture. The linguistic research is broad and includes studies in both modern and historical linguistics.

 

Tasks: The tasks include research and teaching.

 

Research includes research and development of the research environment. The proprietor is expected to actively seek external research funds.

 

Teaching in German covers all levels, including supervision at the postgraduate level, as well as course responsibility, course management and supervision.

 

The applicant is expected to carry out educational development work, participate in the institution's internal work as well as in the faculty's common activities.

 

Administrative tasks may be included in the work. Regular attendance at the workplace is required for active participation in the work of the institution.

 

Those who do not have knowledge of the Swedish language should acquire them during the first two years of employment.

 

Eligibility Requirements: Qualifying to be employed as a university lecturer is the one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence, demonstrated educational skills and possesses the personal qualities required to fulfill the job well, such as good collaborative skills both within and outside the institution.

 

A prerequisite for pedagogical proficiency is to be considered is the review, for the activities relevant, college education, comprising at least ten weeks, or equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the college education can be completed during the first two years of employment.

 

Basis of assessment : Equal care should be devoted to the scientific and educational skills.

 

In assessing scientific skill, scientific quality shall be taken into account. The extent of linguistic research, mainly in terms of depth and breadth, is to be taken into account. Experience in research initiation and project collaboration is more credible. Assignment of external funds, scientific management assignments and anchoring within the international research community is also important.

 

In assessing the pedagogical proficiency, first and foremost, educational quality will be taken into account. Even scope, both width and depth, should be taken into account. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to research the teaching will be important. Great emphasis will be placed on experience primarily in the field of linguistic and language skills in the subject of German. The pedagogical skills must be well documented so that both scope and quality can be assessed.

 

Experience of cooperation with the surrounding community will be given importance.

 

The university will in this recruitment mainly take into account who, following a qualitative overall assessment of skills and proficiency, has the best prerequisites for being active actively employed at the institution to implement and develop current tasks and contribute to a positive development of the business.

 

Assessment Basis, Other Skills: Administrative Skills will be assigned weight.

 

Administrative skills are demonstrated by the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively and for the purpose, as well as ability to specify and maintain timeframes. Administrative skills include overall business planning and ability to manage resources in a way that reflects the business priorities as well as ability to work structured and based on awareness of goals and quality.

 

Personal circumstances (eg parental leave) that may be counted in the assessment of the creditor the applicant will be given in connection with the statement of qualifications and experience.
