Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Early Modern History at the University of Manchester. Candidates with interests in any area of Early Modern history (excluding the British Isles) c.1450-1800 are encouraged to apply. Applications from candidates with research interests that map onto one or more of History’s existing research groups (Capital at Manchester; Cultural History of War; Embodied Emotions; Histories of Humanitarianism; Political Cultures) are particularly welcome although other research areas will be considered.

 

You will have an outstanding record of academic publication in Early Modern History, appropriate to their career stage, compatible with inclusion in our submission to REF 2021.

 

You will contribute to existing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including the MA in Medieval and Early Modern Studies. These team-taught courses are subject to review and revision at regular intervals in order to incorporate the interests of new staff. At level 3 you will devise and teach a specialist course based on their area of research expertise. At Senior Lecturer level, you will be expected to undertake leadership roles and university administration.

 

Interviews will include a research presentation and an evaluated teaching demonstration.
