4. Job Responsibilities:


(1) Undergraduate and graduate education of liberal arts;


(2) Education and supervision for graduate students at Department of Social and
Human Sciences in School of Environment and Society;


(3) Relevant cutting edge research and contributions to society based on it;


(4) Relevant administrative works.


5. Qualifications:


The applicant should satisfy the following conditions:


(1) Ph.D. or doctoral degree holders, or those who have comparable abilities;


(2) Great zeal and abilities for liberal arts education;


(3) Great zeal for education and supervision for graduate students.


6. Employment Date: As soon as possible after April 1, 2018


7. Term: Full-time. The retirement age is 65.


8. Salary: The applicant's salary will be determined based on qualifications and
experience in accordance with the Regulations on Wage and Salary.


9. Required documents for application:


Applicants should send the application packet containing both printouts of the items
from (1) to (8), (10), and (11) below, and the digital media (the item (9) below. PDF files
and an MS-Word file stored in a CD disk) by registered postal mail or courier service,
and write "Application for Professor Position (Philosophy) in Institute for Liberal Arts"
in red letters on the cover of the envelope.


(1) Curriculum vitae with an attached photo, email and postal addresses, education
and professional career, activity in academic societies, and prizes or awards;


(2) Summary of past research and teaching activities;


(3) List of publications (peer-reviewed papers, books, reviews, business report, etc.)
Specify refereed (peer-reviewed) or non-refereed papers, and single author or
co-author books. Record/description of qualifications and work experience should
be included;


(4) Explanation of achievements of research and education (approximately 400 words);


(5) Future plan of research and education if employed at Tokyo Institute of Technology
(approximately, 400 words);


(6) Titles of two books you recommend for the first and second year students to study
liberal arts, and the reason of recommendation (approximately 200 words in total);


(7) Three examples of graduate students’ research topics which you can supervise;


(8) Summary sheet (MS-Word form is provided in
http://www.liberal.titech.ac.jp/koubo/2017-ILA-summary-sheet-ph.docx );


(9) CD with the electric data from (1) to (7) above in PDF style and (8) in MS-Word
style (change the file name of the MS-Word file to the applicant’s name, e.g. Toko
Taro);


(10) Offprints or copies of no more than five significant articles and books;


(11) Contact information of four distinguished reference persons (name, affiliation,
phone number, e-mail address). It is desirable that more than one distinguished
reference persons are persons who live in foreign countries (not in Japan).
