The Department of Modern Languages has about 50 employees who mainly conduct research and education. Research is conducted in four languages: Finnish-Ugrian, Romanian, Slavic, and German. Both the older and the younger language level are explored and the theoretical and methodological scope is also available.

 

Work assignments / Project description


Education at the research level comprises four years and is financed through employment as a PhD student. The doctoral students are expected to spend their main working hours on education at the research level and actively participate in the seminar's seminar activities. In addition, certain services (eg education) at the institution may occur.

 

Qualification requirements


For employment as a PhD student, the holder is required or will be admitted to postgraduate education. Qualifying to be admitted to postgraduate education in German is the one that is partly basic and partly specific. Basic eligibility has passed a degree at advanced level, completed at least 240 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 credits at advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country acquired essentially equivalent knowledge.

  2. Merit list with registry extracts that reinforce general and special eligibility for education at PhD level.
  3. Provided copies of diplomas.
  4. Essays on basic and advanced level and / or thesis work.
  5. A dissertation plan in German (3-5 pages excl. References) describing the project that the applicant intends to implement.
