The Department of Philosophy (http://www.LN.edu.hk/philoso/) offers courses at both bachelor and postgraduate levels. The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree programme provides students with an introduction to both Chinese and Western philosophy. It also trains students to do philosophy, and helps them develop both a sense of the philosophical tradition and a skill in and respect for philosophical argument. The Department is also responsible for contributing a large number of courses to the University’s General Education programme.

 

General Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD degree in the field of Philosophy with at least five years of relevant teaching experience in both Philosophy and Common Core subjects, and experience in course development. The appointee must be prepared to teach two common core courses in Critical Thinking: Analysis and Argumentation & Understanding Morality as well as other advanced subjects in their area of specialization.

 

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will be normally made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.
