The Doctoral Programme in Education at the Faculty of Education and Psyhology is currently seeking to recruit  staff to the position of


1-2 Doctoral Students in Education from 1 August 2018 for a maximum period of four years. 

 

The Faculty of Education and Psychology undertakes significant, internationally recognised research. Most of the studies are published in high-level international journals, and the researchers of the faculty are sought-after partners in research and when applying for research funding. The faculty also provides high-quality education in its various disciplines. The five areas of research strength are:


1) Interaction in learning, education and therapy 
2) Learning
• learning difficulties, cognitive development, emotions and motivation, digitalisation, peer relationships
• neural background of learning, developing brains 
3) Family and childhood 
• growth and learning environments, participation, parenthood and family relationships
4) World of work
• workplace learning, wellbeing, identity, human agency and leadership research
5) Teaching, guidance and education
• Pedagogical research and experimental research connected to learning environments, development of schools, mobile and online interventions, internationality, cultural diversity and multilingualism, equality of education, wellbeing, democracy and human agency.



The duties of the PhD students mostly concern their own doctoral dissertation research.



The duties and qualification requirements for the position of Doctoral Students are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The selected person is required to have a full command of Finnish language. When considered appropriate, the University may grant exemption from the language proficiency requirements. A good command of English is required.

 

Doctoral Students are required to have a master's degree and the right to postgraduate degree studies in the Doctoral programme in education at the University of Jyväskylä.



The job-specific salary component of a Doctoral student is based on the job demands level 1-4 (1826,50 €/month–2500,06 €/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46.3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.



Appointee is subject to a six-month trial period.

In addition describe 1) progress of the doctoral study, manuscripts in preparation, manuscripts send to be reviewed or published, the phase of data analyzing; 2) work plan for the funding period (including mobility plan and plan of publishing, when relevant)
