Part-time position (65%), starting date: 01.10.2019

 

The International Research Training Group 1956 "Cultural Transfer and 'Cultural Identity' funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). German-Russian contacts in the European context "is being carried out in cooperation with the Russian State University of Humanities Moscow (RGGU).

 

The colleges in Freiburg and Moscow deal together with questions about German-Russian and Russian-German cultural contacts and cultural transfers, taking into account the European dimension and thus also dealing with trilateral or quatrolateral relations. In addition, the research network investigates to what extent processes of cultural transfer affect constructions of cultural or national identities. The period of investigation extends from the late 17th century to the present. The range of subjects of the international and interdisciplinary graduate program ranges from German Studies, Slavic Studies, Romance Studies, English Studies, Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature, History and Art History to Philosophy, Linguistics and Media Culture.

 

The tasks of the doctoral candidates consist in the work on an independent research project (dissertation), in the participation in the international and interdisciplinary scientific work as well as in the qualification program of the International Research Training Group.

 

In addition to the doctoral positions, two places will be awarded to doctoral candidates who have their own funding and would like to associate themselves with the Kolleg. The requirements and the application modalities also apply to applications for these places.

 

requirements

1) A scientific university degree (Magister, Master, Staatsexamen, Diplom) completed with above-average success in one of the participating subjects with a literary-scientific, cultural-scientific, comparative, historical, media-scientific, art-historical, linguistic or philosophical focus;

2) A dissertation project in the thematic-methodological area of the International Research Training Group;

3) knowledge of German at least level C1 according to the European reference framework; Russian skills usually at least C1 level according to the European Framework of Reference. Depending on the topic to be worked on, the required level of Russian language skills can be lowered. The decision on this or with regard to competences to be acquired during the doctoral studies lies with the Admissions Committee.

4) Willingness to actively participate in the structured doctoral program, including joint colleges held twice a year (alternately in Moscow and Freiburg). This includes research stays of at least six months, of which at least three months at the Moscow partner university during the doctoral phase. The financing of the stays abroad is secured.

 

The vacancies are limited to three years and end on 30.09.2022. Remuneration is based on TV-L E13.

1) cover letter explaining your motivation to participate in the International Research Training Group (1-2 pages);

2) Tabular curriculum vitae (with information on language skills and ev. Proof);

3) copies or scans of the degree certificates;

4) Exposé of the dissertation project in the scope of 8 to max. 10 pages (problem definition, question / s and cognitive interest, possible theoretical basis and planned methodical procedure, state of research, material basis, list of used literature, time and work schedule). The time and work plan is to be aligned to a processing time of three years. Please provide the Exposé with a short summary of max. 15 lines ahead.

5) If necessary Publication, lecture and event catalog;

6) A letter of recommendation from a university teacher on your academic qualification and dissertation project;
