USC Rossier School of Education seeks applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Instructor or Adjunct Faculty Instructor to teach a graduate level online course, EDUC 577: Guided Practice (Mild/Moderate) Disabilities, 3-units. Applicants with a deep understanding of curriculum and instruction (pedagogy) affecting teaching and learning across disciplines, all grade levels, and different social contexts of schooling are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, we are seeking applicants with experience working with students with special needs. Experience and expertise in development and implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and individual transition plans for students with special needs is required. The understandings of the theories and research related to curriculum design and instructional models is a prerequisite to the development of professionalism and prospective teachers’ abilities to implement and advocate for appropriate practices responsive to needs, interests, abilities of grades K-12 students in all educational settings. The explicit knowledge of curriculum designs and instructional models is intended to provide the foundation to assist educators in becoming “teacher leaders” within the classroom, school, district, and community/state/federal context. Reporting to the Course Coordinator of the course, the Part-Time or Adjunct Faculty Instructor is responsible for learning and implementing the course curriculum, attending regularly scheduled weekly faculty meetings, providing daily/weekly communication to students, offering regularly scheduled office hours, and complying with program-level operations requests, school-level policies, and university-level guidelines. Required Qualifications: • Education: Masters Degree in Education related field and Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate) Teaching Credential. • Experience: 3-5 years experience as a K-12 special education teacher. Desirable Qualifications: • Education: Doctorate in Education (EdD) and Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate) teaching credential. • Experience: 3-5 years experience as a K-12 special education teacher, especially those serving underserved high needs populations in urban areas. • Technology: Zoom Platform; Moodle-based learning management systems; MS Office software; Google Apps (esp., Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Gmail).
