Position Description

 

The Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary, invites applications for up to four tenure or tenure-track appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor with research, policy, professional practice, and teaching experience in the area of Early Years Education.  The appointments will commence July 1, 2016, or at a mutually agreeable date.

Key elements of the position include on-campus and online teaching in early years education, advising and supervision of graduate student research, and collaborating with colleagues in interdisciplinary research initiatives, programme development, support and implementation.  

Applicants are invited to submit a curriculum vitae, a statement outlining research, post-secondary teaching and leadership experience, evidence of collaboration, a brief description of present and aspiring contributions to the field, reprints of two (2) representative academic publications, and the names of and contact information for three referees. 

In your application please identify the graduate specialization in which you are qualified and interested: Adult Learning, Counselling Psychology, Curriculum and Learning, Language and Literacy, Leadership, Learning Sciences or School and Applied Child Psychology. If the specialization is in either Counselling Psychology or School and Applied Child Psychology include evidence of eligibility for registration as a psychologist with the College of Alberta psychologists as this is a requirement for this position. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must present evidence of an on-going research program beyond the doctoral dissertation, a publication record, evidence of successful teaching, and evidence of academic engagements in professional and other communities.

Applicants at the Asociate Professor level must provide evidence of an established, externally funded research program, a strong publication record, demonstrated collaborations with higher education institution teams; evidence of successful on-campus and online teaching and graduate supervision, and evidence of established academic engagements in professional and other communities.

Applicants at the Professor level must present evidence of an on-going, high-impact research program evident at the national and international levels, a strong publication record, international leadership in the field (e.g., theoretically influential work, editorial roles in top-tier journals, etc.); demonstrated collaborations with higher education institution teams at the national and international levels, policy makers, and k-12 schools; evidence of successful on-campus and online teaching and graduate supervision, demonstrated capacity to assemble and sustain research teams;  and, evidence of academic engagements in professional and other communities.
