Position Description


The Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary, invites applications for a Professor with tenure with research, policy, professional practice, and teaching experience in the area of the Learning Sciences.  The appointments will commence July 1, 2016, or at a mutually agreeable date.

Applicants must have an equivalent PhD in Education with:

  • Evidence of an on-going, high impact program of research evident at the national and international levels;
  • Research expertise in learning sciences, educational technology, educational psychology and/or STEM/STEAM;
  • Demonstrated capability in assembling and sustaining high-impact research teams;
  • Evidence of a strong national and international publication record;
  • Demonstrated collaborations with higher education institutions at the national and international levels, policy makers, and k-12 schools;
  • International leadership in the field (e.g., theoretically influential work, editorial roles in top-tier journals, etc.);
  • Evidence of successful on-campus and online teaching and graduate supervision;
  • Evidence of academic engagements in professional and other communities; and
  • Evidence of collaborating with colleagues in interdisciplinary research initiatives, programme development, support and implementation. 

Key elements of the position include providing research leadership in the area of the Learning Sciences, on-campus and online teaching in the Learning Science, advising and supervision of graduate student research, and collaborating with colleagues in interdisciplinary research initiatives, programme development, support and implementation. 

Applicants are invited to submit a curriculum vita, a statement outlining research, post-secondary teaching and leadership experience, evidence of collaboration, a brief description of present and aspiring contributions to the field, reprints of two (2) representative academic publications, and the names of and contact information for three referees.
