Faculty Position in English
American University of Iraq, Department of English

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) invites applications* for open rank positions in the Department of English. The projected starting date is August, 2016. Teaching duties will consist of classes in our Core Composition sequence as well as contributing to courses in our English Literature and English Journalism majors. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Developing new courses as needed
  • Student advising during Fall and Spring registration
  • Participating in service activities and faculty governance

  • Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in English, Literature, or a closely related field.
  • Native or near native fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level, especially in composition.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching.
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching skills, including the ability to teach diverse populations, and students for whom English is not a native language.

* Pending budgetary approval.
