At the University‘s Faculty I (Philosophische Fakultät), the following university chair position is available:

 

University Professorship − English Linguistics

Salary group W3 ÜBesG NRW

 

Applicants must be able to integrate the full spectrum of English Linguistics in accordance with international standards into their scholarly work. The focus of their research should lie in the area of synchronic variation in English, with a specialization in at least one of the following fields of linguistic analysis: phonology, morphology, or syntax. Their research should encompass both empirical work and theoretical modelling of linguistic phenomena. Experience in implementing statistical analyses is beneficial. Additionally, teaching experience in various areas of English Linguistics, including language acquisition and/or language use, is a decisive advantage. Requirements include an excellent command of the English language, experience abroad, and successful acquisition of external funding.

 

Teaching and examination duties relate both to B.A. and M.A. programs in Linguistics and to the linguistics-oriented segments of the teacher training program.

 

In addition to the basic requirements for civil servants, the prerequisites also include: a university degree; teaching qualifications; a significant aptitude for academic research, as indicated by the quality of one‘s doctorate work; and additional academic work which is to be exclusively and comprehensively evaluated in the course of the application review procedure. Additional academic work is to have been accomplished within the context of an Assistant Professorship, by means of post-doctorate qualifications (Habilitation), or through scholarly work at a tertiary institution or a non-university research institute, or within the context of other academic work.
