Salary: Grade 7

Closing Date: Monday 25th April 2016 by 5 p.m.

Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards. We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to REF 2020, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed, teaching led University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:

Lecturer/Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow in the Department of Education Studies

The Faculty of Education at Liverpool Hope University is expanding and as a part of this has recently been restructured along clear academic lines. This restructure has enabled us to bring into sharp focus the existing research-informed teaching strengths of which we are already justly proud. Three new departments have emerged. These are:

  • The Department of Education Studies
  • The Department of Disability and Education
  • The Department of Early Childhood

It is in this context of vibrant expansion, focused leadership and clarity of vision that we are now seeking to appoint up to 2 new colleagues to either Lecturer or Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow positions in the Department of Education Studies. Those who join us will be doctorally-qualified and have demonstrated the potential to make an exceptional contribution to our research-informed teaching agenda. All applications will be very carefully considered. However, with these two new positions we are looking for focused specialists who are at the forefront of one discipline and teach and research in the area in which they have detailed expertise. Those who have a particular specialism in any of the following areas are particularly welcome to explore this opportunity with us:

  • Philosophy of Education, particularly as related to political perspectives
  • History of Education, particularly as related to the history of schooling or education policy
  • Psychology of Education, particularly educational psychology, social psychology or as it relates to education policy

Post-doctoral fellowships are available for the period 1 September, 2016 to 30 June 2017 in the first instance. Lecturer posts are open-ended contracts subject to the normal probationary period.
