Assistant Professor of Teacher Education Programs

Lewis-Clark State College invites applications for a 10-month, tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Teacher Education program with split responsibilities in teaching and teacher education program coordination. 

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience, starting at $55,000. 

In this leadership role, a successful candidate will take initiative to reach successful project completion while engaging in effective collaboration with the division chair and program faculty. 

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • A PhD or EdD in Education or related field prior to appointment date. ABD considered, with exceptional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience working in K-12 education.
  • Clinical supervision experience.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate program faculty, K-12 cooperating teachers, and teacher candidates.
  • Evidence of expertise in a majority of the following areas: Elementary Math Methods, Elementary Science Methods, Elementary Classroom Management, Philosophy and History of Education, or Educational Psychology.
  • Evidence of an ability to develop and deliver online courses.
  • Commitment to participate in Teacher Education program assessment and accreditation responsibilities.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Teaching experience in a P-12 and/or college environment (Elementary Education emphasis preferred).
  • Able to implement new curriculum.
  • Potential for scholarship demonstrated by publications, presentations, or grants.
  • Active in relevant professional organizations.
  • Experience providing academic advising for Teacher Education majors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and national Teacher Education standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education programs (i.e. schedule team meetings, assist with course and time schedule, coordinate Teacher Education advisory boards, update program documentation).
  • Place interns in field experience settings.
  • Facilitate program assessment.
  • Teach 12 adjusted credit hours per academic year as assigned by Division Chair (teaching assignments may include online instruction).
  • Supervise interns in schools.
  • Advise teacher education majors.
  • Be actively involved in relevant professional organizations.
  • Develop a record of publications, presentations, and grants.
  • Participate in Teacher Education program assessment and accreditation responsibilities.
  • Serve on division and campus committees.
  • Work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
