Assistant Professor of English
American University of Iraq, Department of English Language and Literature

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) invites applications to the Department of English for a faculty member in Technical Writing and in our First-year Composition sequence. The projected starting date is August, 2016. Some teaching in other courses may be possible. 

  • Developing new courses as needed
  • Student advising during Fall and Spring pre-registration
  • Participating in service activities and faculty governance
  • Ph.D. or MA from an accredited college or university in English, Rhetoric, or related fields.
  • Native fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Prior teaching experience at the post¬secondary level, especially in writing courses.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching. Prefer experience with non-native speakers of English in international settings.
Salary and Benefits: 
Salary is competitive, tax-free, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include relocation and shipping allowances, faculty housing, daily transportation to and from campus, subsidized medical insurance, and a summer travel allowance.
