Jenny Wormald Junior Research Fellowship in Women’s History




St Hilda’s College Oxford intends to elect a Jenny Wormald Stipendiary Junior Research Fellow, tenable for a period of three years from 1 October 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to 30 September 2020 (depending on start date). Applicants should be researching the history of women's social mobility in the UK, or as a comparative/transnational study in which the UK plays a part; or should intend to research this during the JRF. The successful candidate is likely to be at or near the postdoctoral level. The fellow must engage in original research, and may undertake a limited amount of teaching with the consent of the college.


The stipend will be £21,000 p.a. (indexed to academic salary increases). The fellow will also receive an allowance to assist with the cost of housing (£8,000 p.a.). The fellow will be provided with use of a shared office in college. Fellows are entitled to free meals, are members of the Senior Common Room, and may apply for research expenses (currently up to £1,300 p.a.). They will also be eligible to apply for small project and event grants through the college’s new research support scheme.
