Duties and Responsibilities

We are looking for an exceptional individual to become the Director of a new research centre, positioned at the heart of research quality and research-led practice in teacher education. The instigation of the Centre for Research on Teachers and Teaching is intended to generate world-leading research and impact, and to strengthen the research excellence underpinning the Institute of Education (IOE) practice in teacher training and development.

The Centre will offer world-leading research and scholarship in an area of ongoing strategic importance and commitment for the IOE. The Centre and its activities will play a role in supporting and developing those Initial Teacher Education (ITE) colleagues who are already research active and in increasing the number of staff who become research active in this area.

The Director of the new Centre will play a key role in setting up and developing the vision for the Centre for Research on Teachers and Teaching, and in establishing and recruiting the associated team. They will provide outstanding academic leadership for the Centre team of researchers and academics and play a key role in supporting research in the field across the IOE.
