Position Description

 

The Werklund School of Education, Undergraduate Programs, at the University of Calgary invites applications for term certain sessional instructors to teach the following on-campus and online classes, supervise student teachers participating in Field Experiences, and teach in the curriculum areas for both elementary and secondary levels during the 2018 Winter Session:

 

2018 Winter Courses

  • EDUC 445 - Individual Learning: Theories and Applications

    (Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, K-12)

  • EDUC 450 - Diversity in Learning

  • EDUC 456 - Assessment

    (Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, K-12)

  • EDUC 460 - Specialization IEDUC 465 - Field Experience II

    • Early Childhood
    • Elementary English Language Arts
    • Elementary English as an Additional Language
    • Elementary Second Languages
    • Elementary Fine Arts
    • Elementary French
    • Elementary Inclusive Education
    • Elementary Mathematics
    • Elementary Physical Education
    • Elementary Science
    • Elementary Social Studies
    • Secondary Physical Education
    • Secondary English Language Arts

  • EDUC 560 - Field Experience IV

 

* Instructors who are interested in teaching EDUC 560 should also indicate their interest in EDUC 540 as applicants will be selected to teach both classes.

 

Position Requirements

  • Completed doctorate in education, but professionals with a master’s degree will also be considered.

  • Five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary/secondary level

  • Ability to work collaboratively with school and community members

  • Demonstrated history of ongoing professional development

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills

  • Evidence of creativity and flexibility

  • Recent experience as a partner teacher or school liaison.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the new undergraduate program in Education and commitment to inquiry based teaching and learning will also be considered assets for these positions.

  • Cover letter specifying the course(s) that they wish to apply for

  • Updated CV including all previous courses taught for the Werklund School

  • Three (3) letters of reference

 

*Required ONLY for first time appointments to the Werklund School
