EU456e Professional Learning Seminar (0.5)

Year One, mix of PJ and JI

This course engages Teacher Education Candidates (TECs) in ongoing professional reflection and inquiry. TECs meet to share questions and reflections emerging from their professional practice, to engage in collaborative inquiry and problem solving, and to construct professional knowledge as a community of learners. The Professional Learning Seminar (PLS) has been deliberately designed to bridge theory with the practical demands of teaching. PLS I, which occurs in Year One of the BEd program, focuses on core themes (reflection, collaboration, inquiry). A central feature of PLS I is an action research project that provides an opportunity for TECs to engage in inquiry-based research including data collection and assessment.

Note for .5 credit courses

Given that the Faculty of Education is committed to an interaction between theory and application, 6 of the contact hours in this course will be related to experiences outside the University classroom. For example, candidates may be assigned tasks related to the content of each course to execute in the PDS school site. Your course instructor will inform you how the additional 6 hours will be accounted for in this course.

Qualifications - Required : Master's Degree

Qualifications - Other : Requisite academic qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent.
The criteria for appointment, in order of priority, are requisite academic qualifications, an excellent record of teaching/supervision in the relevant content area, extensive teaching/supervision experience, and other relevant qualifications.

Salary : Non-seniority: $7,775.00
