The Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) is a research intensive Department that prides itself on policy driven research focused on Asia.  The Department’s faculty are engaged in research addressing education, health, ageing and social policy, urban and housing policy, governance, energy, and comparative political-economy.  The Department offers degree programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.


To further enhance its research and teaching strengths, the Department of Asian and Policy Studies invites applications for a full-time Associate / Assistant Professor in Public Policy (broadly defined).  Applicants with a specific research interest in the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: i) Public sector management, ii) Public finance and iii) Comparative public policy.


The appointee will participate in activities related to teaching, research, project supervision, curriculum and programme development, together with programme and course management at undergraduate to postgraduate levels.  He/she is expected to be an active researcher, be able to conduct research that leads to publications in leading international journals and successfully acquire external research grants.  Applicants should provide evidence of past and current research and teaching accomplishments and a statement of teaching and research interests.


Applicants should have a Doctoral Degree in relevant disciplines with a very good research track record and post-qualification teaching experience in tertiary education sector.  Bilingual competency in English and Chinese and an appreciation of the challenges of working in a multicultural context will be advantageous.  For the post of Associate Professor, applicants should have evidence of strong research output and publication in the relevant field(s), and strong research track records and impact.  For the post of Assistant Professor, applicants should demonstrate strong potential as researchers and commitment to high quality teaching.
