Assistant Professorships in IT, Interaction Design and Learning Aalborg University, Department of Learning and Philosophy Denmark

The Department of Learning and Philosophy, the Faculty of Humanities, Aalborg University (Campus Aalborg), seeks to hire one or more 4 year assistant professors in the field of IT, Interaction Design and Learning. The positions are open for appointment from February 1st 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

The positions are closely affiliated with the deparment’s research group IT and Learning Design (ILD) and Xlab, whose focus is to design innovative learning processes through the use and development of IT. We work in a cross-disciplinary setting supporting activities that bring together a collection of diverse approaches to do with the nature of IT and design/user-driven innovation in different learning practices. The positions offered can cover any of these research areas, including interaction design, human-computer interaction, programming and prototyping, development of learning environments, and technology enhanced learning.

Applicants must document research qualifications at the level of assistant professor within the area of IT, Interaction Design, and Learning. Moreover, experience with transdisciplinary collaborations and external research and development projects, including the acquisition of external funding, will be considered an advantage. The ideal candidate will offer the ability to research, teach/supervise, and collaborate closely with external stakeholders.

The teaching obligations will primarily be placed within the departments educational programs, as for example the master programme in Information Technology, Learning and Organizational Change (ILOO). The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to teach and research in this area, with special focus on interaction design. The programme is given in Danish, so proficiency in Danish or another Scandinavian language is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. After 1 year, however, applicants must be able to teach and supervise in Danish. Experience with project organized problem based learning (PBL) will be considered an advantage.

We value candidates who share the priorities of attracting graduate talent, offering relevant experiential learning opportunities, and academic excellence through enhanced research productivity.
