Adjunct in Philosophy History in Applied Perspective Aalborg University, Department of Learning and Philosophy Denmark



At the Department of Learning and Philosophy, the Faculty of Humanities, there are 1.2.2018 or shortly thereafter a vacant position as assistant in philosophy history in the applied perspective. The post is available for a period of 3 years




In these years, the program in Applied Philosophy has a strategic focus on developing the teaching in philosophy history, so that the application part becomes clear in both the didactic organization and implementation of the subject. The position aims specifically at raising this task and in conjunction with this, strengthening the department's research into philosophy-historical themes in combination with a applied actualization of the themes.


Since it is a position with a particular didactic and teaching-developing focus, in addition to the corresponding research base, it is expected that the applicant already has broad experience in teaching philosophy history, as well as knowledge and experience of application-oriented and, in particular, problem-based teaching be weighted particularly high.


Experience with international cooperation in research / education will be an advantage.


The position will be associated with the Center for Applied Philosophy (CAF), and will be the center's focus on applied philosophy.


Teaching, the position will primarily be associated with the BA and KA program in Applied Philosophy, and because the AAU educational platform is the problem-based learning (PBL), it will also be an advantage if the applicant has experience and interest in problem-based learning processes.



An assistant position is a fixed-term continuing education position with a commitment to research and teaching. To this end, other tasks may be limited by the university. The employee must also attend a course in university education for adjuncts, organized by the university.


The total appointment as assistant may not be more than 4 years at the same institution (max. 6 years at the level of assistant at AAU and max. 8 years in total at the assistant level in Denmark).


It is assumed that applicants for adjunktur have scientific qualifications as PhD. or equivalent scientific qualifications.

  • Full list of publications, with the marking of the attached publications that are considered to be taken into consideration in the assessment. There must be a maximum of 5 publications. If publications with co-authors are submitted, a co-author statement must be sent about the applicant's share in the community. Co-authors' statements must be signed by at least one of the other authors. Template for co-author statement

  • Documentation of teaching qualifications ( guidance )

  • Copy of diplomas (Master's degree certificate and PhD certificate) 


Assessment of candidates for the position is done by an expert assessment committee. Applicants cansubsequently be invited to a conversation and / or trial lecture.

This means that after the application deadline, the head of department, with the assistance of the chairman of the assessment committee, will select the candidates to be assessed. All applicants will be informed as to whether they have gone on to review or not. The selected candidates will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each candidate will be given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him / her. Once the recruitment process has been completed, a final rejection will be sent to candidates who are not considered for the post.
