The Department of Primary School Teacher Education, Sport and Special Education, which is part of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities, offers elementary school teacher education and master's and doctoral education in educational science. PhD fellow, subject area of education / special education

The University of Stavanger has vacant positions as a PhD student in education, pedagogy / special education at the Department of Primary School Teacher Education, Sport and Special Education.


This is an education position that will mainly give promising researchers the opportunity for professional development. The position has graduate education up to the doctorate as a goal.


The fellow student is employed for a period of three years with pure research education. The post is available from today.


The scholarship position is linked to the professional development of Teacher's program. Within this program area, one is concerned with developing knowledge about teaching and the connection between local school development and the development of teachers' professional knowledge. We invite research projects that study topics that are relevant in this program area.


Applicants must have a strong academic background with a five-year master's degree in pedagogy or special education, preferably of recent date, or equivalent education that provides the basis for completing a research education. Grades on the master's thesis and weighted average grade in the master's program must both correspond to B or better to be considered.


In assessing, emphasis will be placed on the applicant's potential for research in the field of study, as well as his / her personal prerequisites for completing research education.

The employee must be able to work independently and in a community, be innovative and creative. The fellow student must master Norwegian or Scandinavian languages and have good proficiency in English, both written and oral.

The study is conducted mainly at the University of Stavanger, except for a agreed overseas stay in a recognized relevant research environment.


The fellow wage earner is paid according to the state wage regulation 17,515, code 1017, LR 20, kr 436,900 bto per year.


The position automatically provides membership of the Government Pension Fund, which ensures good pension rights. Members can apply for a mortgage at favorable terms.
