The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is one of the most renowned and largest universities in Germany.



The future holder of the professorship is expected to have an independent profile in research and teaching with a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the entire philosophical and scientific development of the Renaissance, as well as proof of a further research focus either in the Middle Ages or in the Early Modern Period. In teaching, participation in the bachelor and master programs in philosophy (major and minor) and in the interdisciplinary master's program medieval and renaissance studies is expected. In addition, it is desired that the existing interdisciplinary collaborations of the professorship, eg. For example, with the Center for Middle Ages and Renaissance Studies (ZMR), by the future job holder.


The Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) would like to win a well-qualified personality, who has proven her scientific qualification after completing her university studies as well as an above-average doctorate or comparable qualification by internationally visible, excellent achievements in research and teaching.


The appointment takes place in the presence of the civil service requirements in a civil servant relationship for life. In case of employment as a civil servant, the age of 52 may not be completed at the time of appointment. In urgent cases, exceptions may be allowed.


Within the scope of the LMU Academic Career Program there is the possibility of a later increase in the professorship from W2 to W3 in exceptional cases and with outstanding achievements in research and teaching.
