The Graduate School of Education (GSE) is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary part-time non-tenure track lecturers to teach in its professional preparation programs for 2018. Screening of applicants begins immediately and continues as needed. Applicants will be selected from this pool for one year; some appointments begin in the spring semester and some applicants may have an opportunity to teach in our Summer Sessions or Fall course offerings. The number of positions varies from semester to semester and may be renewed based on need and performance.


Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach courses in the school’s teacher education programs and can supervise student teachers:

• Developmental Teacher Education (DTE) – offers MA and multiple subject credential
• Multicultural Urban Secondary English (MUSE) – offers MA and single subject credential
• Masters and Credential in Science and Mathematics Education (MACSME) – offers MA and single subject credential
• Beginning in June 2018: Berkeley Educators for Equity and Excellence (BE3)
– Multiple and single subject credential pathways

General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, and preparing course materials.


Basic Qualifications (by the time application): Masters degree or equivalent degree in Education or a related field.


Additional Qualifications (by start date): The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience teaching practicum and supervision experience in the subject matter field and with diverse populations. This should be explicit in the vitae.


Salary: These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is commensurate with experience but typically begins at $56,106 and prorated in accordance to instructional workload calculation.
