VCA Theatre has a long-established reputation as a leader in preparing theatre artists as professional practitioners in both traditional and contemporary theatre. We are seeking a reputable Lecturer in Theatre (Voice) with expertise in delivering conservatoire-based curriculum encompassing voice and movement training, acting for stage and screen, directing, writing, dramaturgy and theatre making.


The successful applicant will have the demonstrated ability to contribute to teaching and learning within VCA Theatre, possess knowledge of Australasian traditions in stage and screen, reinforced by forward thinking contemporary training practices and contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality teaching program. In collaboration with the Faculty, University and external organisations interstate and nationally, the incumbent will promote teaching partnerships and demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence within VCA Theatre at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, whilst maintaining an active research profile.


You will have experience in the higher education sector and/or the arts, with a demonstrated record of successful educational program delivery, proven established artistic practice, engagement in voice studies, via acting for stage and screen and/or theatre making. A PhD will be highly regarded but equivalent professional experience and demonstrated capabilities in research processes will be actively considered. Additionally, you will have experience in designing and delivering curricula for contemporary arts practice in theatre with a specific focus on voice studies. It is essential that you have the demonstrated capacity to coordinate existing academic and/or artistic programs in a cost-effective way and have the ability to develop a national research profile, undertaking independent original research and practice.


This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), continuing position based at the Southbank campus, in the heart of Melbourne’s arts precinct.
