The Opportunity

The Faculty of Art Design and Architecture (MADA) invites applications for a position in architectural technology at the level of either Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor, to start early in 2019.

We seek an academic and/or practitioner with current knowledge of both research and professional contexts in architecture and construction, and an understanding of architectural technology in contemporary and emerging contexts. This role will play a significant part in teaching, research and engagement activities relating to architectural technology, construction, fabrication, and sustainability.

The successful candidate will integrate their specialist knowledge in architectural technology into design in order to refresh the technology stream of our professional architecture degrees. They will conduct original and collaborative research that leads to high-quality publications and project outcomes, while also providing supervision of higher degree candidates. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the department’s engagement, planning and committee work.

We seek applications from people with:

  • A research doctorate or equivalent higher degree in architecture, ESD, building science or engineering, with an emphasis on architecture technology, materials or construction

  • Demonstrated experience in the professional practice of architecture or a relevant allied field

  • A record of excellence and academic engagement in sustainability and/or architectural structures and building systems, and/or building performance will also be required

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. The incumbent of this position will need to obtain a valid Working with Children Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria and include a cover letter and CV. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
