The Center for French Language Training at York University's Glendon College is seeking applications for two tenure-track positions (teaching component) at the University of York level. beginning July 1, 2019. Those selected will be required to teach undergraduate courses and proactively contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning within the school, including through innovative curriculum initiatives and practices. pedagogy. They will also have to take an active part in the elaboration of the program and the teaching of the courses.


Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or PhD in the process of completion, with a thesis defended by July 1, 2019, in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or Language Pedagogy. The individuals selected for these positions will be responsible for teaching and co-ordinating the teaching of French-second-language multiple-section courses. They will have to teach at the first cycle in the theoretical and methodological framework developed by the Center. They will have experience in second-language teaching in a minority setting, as well as in teaching French in academic approaches in task-based approaches and approaches by type of text.


Those selected will be required to be bilingual in both French and English, and will teach in a multicultural environment. They will have to demonstrate excellence, show promising skills in teaching university courses, and be actively involved in pedagogy and student success. The candidate's ability to integrate a theoretical and practical approach to teaching, learning and course creation will be considered an asset. Educational innovation in high priority areas, such as experiential education, technology-assisted learning and community learning, will be considered an asset, as well as experience in developing curricula with a universal approach to teaching and evaluation. The successful candidate will also be required to provide evidence of past service or show promising skills in the service to the administration and committees.


Salary will be based on the collective agreement and experience. All job offers in York are subject to budgetary authorization from the University.
