W2 Professorship for Hadith, Sira and Islamic History

 

to occupy.

 

The future job holder should represent the area "Hadith, Sira and Islamic History" both in terms of content and methodology in full breadth and depth in research and teaching. The tasks of the professorship include the execution of courses, the supervision of bachelor's and master's theses as well as doctorates and support in the establishment of the Center for Islamic Theology in Münster.

 

The professorship is assigned to the Center for Islamic Theology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität. This classification entails close cooperation with the other areas of the center. A pro-rata assumption of duties of the center is required.

 

Admission requirements include a degree in Islamic theology or a degree in Islamic Studies with a focus on hadith, sira and Islamic history; The focus may have been developed through research or teaching experience as part of the degree program or doctorate or equivalent qualification. Also required is the special ability to deepened independent scientific work, which is usually identified by a relevant above-average promotion and proof of pedagogical aptitude. In addition, additional scientific work is required, which, as part of a junior professorship, a habilitation or an activity as a research associate at a university or non-university institution or in the context of a scientific activity in business, administration or in another social field, both domestically and abroad. Very good subject-specific knowledge of Arabic is desired.
