DESCRIPTION

The History Department [http://history.ucsc.edu] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers. Course topics cover a broad range of areas in History including, but not limited to, the following: Africa, Ancient history, Middle East (colonial and postcolonial), Latin America (colonial and national periods), Modern China, Medieval Europe, Modern Europe, Modern Japan, United States (all time periods), and World History.

 

Applicants with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

ACADEMIC TITLE
Lecturer

 

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in History or related field at the time of application.
  • Evidence of teaching experience at the university level.

 

POSITION AVAILABLE
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.
