Research Associate

Part-time position (50%), starting date: 01.02.2019

 

The Center for Popular Culture and Music (ZPKM), founded in April 2014, is a research institution of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität. His area of responsibility extends to the exploration of popular music cultures from the early modern period to the present day. In addition, the center houses a variety of historically valuable collections including the traditional German Volksliedarchiv, the German Musical Archive, the archive of pop music cultures and an audio equipment collection.

 

The ZPKM hereby authorizes a temporary position (for three years, 50%) , which is intended to serve the scientific and professional further qualification of researchers (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG).

 

The activity includes:

  • scientific services, active participation in ZPKM projects, in particular:
  • Conception, execution and conclusion of a separate, clearly defined research project for the mentioned duration (including final publication in a suitable form as well as organization of a conference and a workshop)
  • Conception, preparation and submission of applications for third-party funding (either in the field of research or in the field of collections / digitization / documentation)

 

The choice of topic for the research project and the applications for third-party funding are open within the framework of the Scientific Concept of the Center ( http://www.zpkm.uni-freiburg.de/wissenschaftliches-konzept-zpkm-2017.pdf ).

 

In the letter of application, initial ideas are expected for the own research project and possible applications for third-party funding; Those researchers who are invited to interviews will also be asked to submit short project sketches with a timetable (maximum in the scope of a DIN A4 page) for the project and the application for a third-party funding application.

 

The qualification center advertised here can not be renewed after the expiration of the three years, however, it is possible to obtain an own project office at the ZPKM by applying for a third party funding application (see above).

 

A successfully completed academic degree (master or equivalent) in a humanities, cultural or social science subject (eg history, cultural anthropology, media studies, sociology) or doctoral studies is required. What is needed is an interest in the topics of the ZPKM and its research areas. The willingness to work accurately and on time as well as the ability to design and implement scientific projects is also required. Commitment, social skills and teamwork are desirable.

 

The position is limited until 31.01.2022. The remuneration is based on TV-L E13.
