The future position holder should represent the field of American Studies in its entire breadth in research and teaching. The Chair's field of study includes the literatures and cultures of the United States, especially in the context of transnational dynamics of colonialism, slavery, migration, and cultural exchange, and includes perspectives on the Caribbean and / or Canada. Furthermore, a focus in research and teaching in Diaspora Studies, Race and Ethnicity, Gender Studies, Law and Literature or Cultural Theory is desired.


We are looking for a scientist who is a creative and dynamic scientist and able to bring her / his international reputation to the English seminar. It is expected to have a high level of academic teaching and to be involved in the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programs of the department as well as participation in academic examinations and university self-administration. The willingness to obtain third-party funding is assumed, and experience is therefore desirable.


Admission requirements for the professorship are additional academic achievements, which are in the context of a junior professorship, a habilitation or an activity as a research assistant at a university or non - university institution or in the context of a scientific activity in business, administration or in another social field in the Germany and abroad have been provided.
