Ulster University has developed a new ambitious strategic plan to deliver a university that is sustainable and innovative with a strong international reputation. The formation of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment brought together part of the former School of Architecture (i.e. the subjects of Architecture and Architectural Technology and Management) and merged that with the School of the Built Environment creating the largest School within the Faculty with circa 1200 students and 66 academic staff; which creates the Belfast School of Architecture and the Built Environment.

 

The Built Environment Research Institute is an integral part of the School and is at the forefront of delivering research that addresses the changing needs of society in a more sustainable manner.

 

The strategic appointment of a Professor of Architecture will provide leadership in research in the field of architecture shaping the strategy which will secure Architecture at Ulster as being internationally recognised and world leading in the field. The post holder will be a dynamic individual who will make a substantial contribution in Architecture research at Ulster through seeking out opportunities to develop and extend our research reach and impact whilst also working collaboratively demonstrating leadership in knowledge transfer and workforce development. Additionally s/he will support the delivery of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. As Professor, the post holder will be expected to provide academic and strategic leadership within their own area of expertise and in support of the Head of School.

 

The successful applicant will have a determined and resilient approach to leadership, encouraging creativity and innovation and be able to build strong stakeholder relationships so as to play a key strategic role in enabling the University to fulfil its potential.
