Assistant Professor in Phonetics

The Department of Linguistics of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track position in Phonetics at the Assistant Professor level, commencing July 1, 2020.

Title of the position: Assistant Professor in Phonetics.

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities revealed by research; c) academic service activities, d) supervision of graduate students.

Terms: Tenure-track position

Wage:  Salary scale for an Assistant Professor will start at $ 86,986 (as of May 1, 2020)

Skills requirements:

  • Education: At the time of appointment, applicants should have a Ph.D. in linguistics or a related field, with evidence of strong research potential.
  • Work experience: The ideal candidate will have expertise in French linguistics and/or articulatory imaging, as well as a strong computational background. The ability to teach in French at the time of appointment would be an important asset but is not required. However, active competence in French will be a condition of tenure.
