Position Description:

 

The School of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications for a contractually-limited position at the Assistant Professor level.

 

The curriculum in Theatre Studies provides opportunities for students to translate academic knowledge into applied projects. It is important that the successful candidate is not only an academic, preferably with a background in theatre history, but has experience as a practitioner who is engaged in contemporary performance practices, particularly those that are community-based.

 

The successful candidate must have a PhD in an area relating to theatre and/or performance studies. The candidate will have a strong record of scholarship, appropriate to someone at the beginning of her or his academic career. As well, the successful candidate will have experience in contemporary performance practices, with preference to candidates with experience in performance creation, particularly work that is community-based.
