Faculty of Science MU, a holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award by the European Commission, is a research-oriented faculty, offering university education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs) closely linked to both primary and applied research and high school teaching in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth sciences. We are the most productive scientific unit of Masaryk University generating around 40% of MU research results. The Department of Anthropology focuses on the study of interactions between biological, social and cultural aspects of humankind. We offer Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees, consistently supporting more than a hundred students in the undergraduate programs and currently six students in the Ph.D. program. Students receive intensive training in biological and socio-cultural anthropology and are encouraged to participate in departmental research projects. Our research activities emphasize forensic anthropology, nutritional status studies, modeling human growth and development, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The department’s labs are equipped with cutting-edge technologies for 3D data acquisition, advanced biological data processing, and evaluation of prehistoric and historic skeletal remains. Currently, the department includes about 20 faculty members and researchers.
