About the Role

The Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University invites applications for a part-time Assistant Professor position at the Department of Slavonic Studies, focusing on Ukrainian linguistics.

Key responsibilities include:

Pedagogical

  • Participate in teaching for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and lifelong learning programs.

  • Supervise, consult, and review Bachelor’s and Master’s theses; occasionally supervise doctoral students.

  • Contribute to organizational aspects of teaching and pedagogical publications.

Research

  • Conduct independent research and publish results in peer-reviewed journals, monographs, or proceedings.

  • Present research at domestic and international conferences.

  • Support the organizational aspects of research activity within the department.

Administrative & Other Tasks

  • Perform routine course administration and e-learning tasks.

  • Organize and participate in internships for students and academic staff.

  • Promote the department and field of Ukrainian studies.


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Philology (required)

  • Ph.D. or equivalent (required)

  • Professional focus on Ukrainian linguistics (required)

  • Scientific publication record (required)

  • Academic internship abroad of at least one month (required)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Ukrainian studies (advantageous)

Language Skills

  • Ukrainian: C2 level

  • Czech: excellent written and spoken skills

  • English: high proficiency

Additional Skills

  • Strong presentation, organizational, teaching, and mentoring abilities

  • Ability to conduct and publish independent research

  • Team-oriented with publishing and computer skills (MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)
