The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Qualifications Candidates must have earned a PhD in Slavic Studies or a related discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. The department seeks applicants with: A demonstrated record of excellence in both research and teaching. The ability to teach and research in at least two different Slavic language and culture areas. A specialization in Czech and/or Slovak studies is particularly encouraged. Research interests that incorporate media studies and/or digital culture are especially desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach two undergraduate and/or graduate courses per semester. Pursue innovative and independent research. Establish and maintain a competitive, externally funded research program. Evidence of Excellence Research excellence may be demonstrated by: Publications in leading or field-relevant journals. A strong research statement. Conference presentations, awards, and recognitions. Outstanding letters of reference. Teaching excellence will be assessed through: A record of strong teaching performance. A teaching dossier that includes a statement of teaching philosophy, two sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations. Supportive reference letters.
