Assistant/Associate Professor in Interior Design/ Interior Design Architecture

Introduction: The Interior Design Engineering program seeks to ensure that all Gulf University graduates are equipped with the necessary and up-to-date skills that will enable them succeed in their studies and pursue a successful professional life in Interior Design Engineering and relevant sectors. The department aims at appointing a talented professor in the field of Interior Design Engineering in order to support the program team in achieving its goals. The candidate will be a member of an experienced, diverse and professional team of scholars that will make a significant contribution in the field.  


1. Expected Qualifications:

  • PhD in Interior Design or a related field of enquiry,
  • Experienced in design, execution and managing Interior Design projects
  • Specialized in Software Application in Design and Architecture such as AutoCAD, 3D Max, AchiCAD, Revit, Rhino etc.

2. Expected Experience:

  • Ideally three years’ experience of teaching in a higher education institute
  • International exposure
  • Experience in quality assurance, developing course specifications as per the national qualification frameworks and international accreditation standards
  • Experience using design and drafting software applications professionally, particularly BIM software
  • Industrial experience in Interior Design, architecture and construction companies, production, furniture design, material specs or any other relevant domain
  • Strong and recognized research profile

3. Required Skills :

  • Fluent in the English language
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills
  • Ability to use different teaching methods to accommodate students’ needs
  • Ability to work with students from different culture and background
  • Use technology and innovative ways of teaching within design studio, experimental, prototyping and testing, practices
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills related to Architecture and Interior Design Engineering
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team
  • Able to work under the pressure of deadlines

4. Rules and Responsibilities:

  • Support the vision, mission of the university and applies its policies and procedures
  • Contribute in enriching the existing body of research with well-defined research area and interest.
  • Design syllabi, and engage in activities that will enhance the development of the Interior Design Engineering program
  • Produce lesson plans, prepare exams, and develop material related to the courses taught
  • Write reports reflecting students’ progress and utilization of resources.
  • Attend meetings, workshop and participate in professional development
  • Encourage students and constructively provide feedback in a timely manner
  • Respect deadlines
  • Serve in committees at the university and college levels
