DescriptionThe Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction in Art Education, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2024. Rank and salary commensurate with experience. The primary areas of focus for this position are undergraduate teaching and service, including coordination of field placements for the art education program, which interacts with the college-wide UTeach Fine Arts program as art education’s Faculty Area Coordinator. Teaching assignments will include K-12 art teaching methods, curriculum design and instruction, classroom management, and related topics. The position will teach three courses per semester, or the equivalent, and contribute service to the department, art education unit and beyond. The administrative service expectations include arranging internships/observations and student teaching placements for all art education students; communicating with students, faculty, school districts, local teachers, and other university offices; and ensuring that all required paperwork is completed and filed properly for certification purposes. Applicants must have strong communication and organizational skills. Although Professors of Instruction are not expected to make nationally significant contributions in the area of research, we welcome applications from those who are active scholars.
