The University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education invites applicants for an on-campus, open rank faculty position in Marriage and Family Therapy in the Master’s degree programs:

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.

The position is an instructional, non-tenure track, on-campus faculty appointment with a 12-month renewable contract. Non-tenure track, on-campus faculty in the Rossier School typically have a profile of 80% teaching (24 academic units) and a 20% service expectation including some combination of, but not limited to, curriculum development, course oversight, recruitment and admissions activities, and participation on school and university committees.

Successful candidates will be experienced doctoral level clinicians who are licensed or license-eligible to practice within the state of California and align with our program’s mission. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to social justice and background in public mental health with an established record of serving diverse urban communities, particularly those who have been historically marginalized. Candidates will have an earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, psychology, or related field, with a record of excellence in teaching Family Systems oriented courses to teach across a range of courses required for MFT licensure.  Desired candidates will be knowledgeable of California MFT licensure requirements and interested in overseeing the applied fieldwork of students. Candidates with a Pupil Personnel Services credential and related experience are of interest. Candidates with a background and commitment to equity and improving opportunity and outcomes for historically underserved groups are especially desired

Our Program’s Mission:  MFT students are trained to identify and develop strengths within clients to help them overcome serious barriers to their well-being and attain their life goals.  USC MFT students are trained to challenge and deconstruct systems of oppression and domination, and to become change agents in the field of mental health.
