About the position

At the Department of Teacher Education there is a 100% permanent position as associate professor in Norwegian didactics with a facility for writing, writing and / or writing assessment.


The Norwegian section currently has 4 professors, 2 lecturers, 14 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, 8 university lecturers and 4 fellows. At the section, all teaching and most of the research activity is organized in teams. This means that a good working environment and cooperation are highly valued.


Norwegian courses are included in the five-year master's programs in compulsory school teacher education, lecturer education 8-13, practical-pedagogical education and 2-year master's degree in Norwegian didactics. NTNU also offers further education in Norwegian for teachers in both primary and secondary schools.


The Department of Teacher Education has two collaborative environments that focus especially on writing research and writing assessment research, subject section for Norwegian and National Center for Writing Education and Writing Research. It is expected that the person who is employed wants to collaborate on ongoing projects and be the initiator of new projects in the future. The position has been added to the Norwegian section.



Teaching within the department's various study programs according to current study plans, and work on further development of the subject area and teaching programs, including also further education.

Supervision of master's and doctoral students within the relevant subject area.

Practice Management.

Research within own area and contributions in relevant research groups.

Research dissemination and popular science communication.

Administrative tasks.

Professional responsibility together with the section's other academic staff

The person employed must comply with the decisions on changes that the development in the subject entails, as well as organizational changes.


eligibility Requirements

Norwegian PhD / PhD or equivalent foreign PhD in a relevant field. Relevant disciplines include Norwegian, Norwegian didactics and applied linguistics.

Documented research competence in writing, writing training, writing assessment or equivalent. Relevant publications in addition to doctoral work will be emphasized.

It requires basic vocational training. Anyone who is hired without having a basic educational qualification and cannot document corresponding qualifications, is required to undergo an approved course within two years after appointment. Uniped v / NTNU offers qualifying courses.

Good Norwegian skills. Qualifications in other Scandinavian languages are valued.

Teaching experience from Norwegian schools and / or other relevant teaching experience is desirable.

Experience with the use of information technology in teaching context is emphasized.

In the assessment, emphasis is placed on scientific work relevant to school and / or teacher education. The publication of research results in recognized national and international publication channels in relevant subject areas will be emphasized. The greatest emphasis is placed on scientific work over the past five years. Emphasis will also be placed on the ability to initiate and lead research and development work.


Educational skills and qualifications will be emphasized. The assessment will be based on documented pedagogical material, forms of presentation in the scientific works, experience from teaching, master's and doctoral guidance, and educational background of another kind. Quality and breadth will be considered. Current candidates will be invited to trial and interview.

In addition to formal qualifications, personal qualities such as independence, solution orientation, collegial willingness to cooperate, student involvement, creativity and motivation to contribute to good academic and social environment will be given great importance.

Salaries and terms

Position as associate professor code 1011, paid with minimum annual salary kr. 515 200, -. The person employed will normally be paid from NOK. 515 200, - for kr. 713 600, -. From this, 2% of the statutory deposit is deducted from the Government Pension Fund.


The employment is carried out in accordance with the principles of the State Employees Act, and legislation regulating the export of knowledge, technology and services. After hiring, you must expect changes to the work area.


It is a prerequisite that the person being hired settles so that he / she can be present at and available to the institution.


The total duty of work shall be distributed in the fields of research, teaching and administration. The distribution within the various fields will vary at all times, but over time, roughly equal time is calculated for research and teaching.
