The German Studies Department in the Faculty of Philology (FB 9) at the University of Münster, Germany, seeks to fill the position of an


Associate professorship (Juniorprofessur, W1)
for Literature and Media Didactics


at the soonest possible date.


Civil servant status is initially granted for three years. Following a positive job evaluation, civil servant status is extended for another three years.


Candidates should have expertise in the area of aesthetic education / media didactics (film didactics, theatre didactics, acoustic and/or visual media didactics) with a focus on German as a teaching degree subject.


The prospective appointee will be expected to give instruction in all teaching degree programmes in the subject German (for primary and all secondary school forms), participate in media- and literary didactic research, jointly administer academic/state examinations and demonstrate a willingness to participate in self-administration.


To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a teaching degree in German studies/German and a doctoral degree in German studies. Furthermore, they must be willing to conduct didactic research and teaching for the purpose of acquiring the necessary academic qualification for a career as a university professor. Candidates should substantiate their ability to conduct media-/literary didactic research with relevant publications.
