CDBB Research Assistant/Associate x 9 (Fixed Term)



Applications are welcome from ambitious post-doctoral researchers looking to develop their careers with the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) at the University of Cambridge, who are looking to focus on the transformation of the built environment through the investigation and development of advanced technologies, digital tools, standards and processes.


The University of Cambridge has received funding of £30M million from InnovateUK as part of the £72M Core Innovation Hub partnership with Building Research Establishment and the Manufacturing Technology Centre. CDBB will focus on the ongoing transformation of the built environment through the digital tools, standards and processes that are collectively known as Building Information Modelling (BIM). The Centre is a key element in the Digital Built Britain programme which has the ambition of delivering a step-change in construction productivity, creating approximately £2.9 billion of net discounted savings for the Exchequer through the delivery of high performing assets in infrastructure and buildings, and driving exports for UK firms.


The long-term vision for the Centre is to develop and demonstrate policy and practical insights that will enable the exploitation of new and emerging technologies, data and analytics to enhance the natural and built environment, thereby driving up commercial competitiveness and productivity, as well as citizen quality of life and well-being. The Centre is looking to recruit up to 9 research assistants / associates to form a multi-disciplinary team of researchers working across the entire remit of the Centre's work. The post-holders will be working under the direct supervision of CDBB's Academic Director Professor Mark Girolami and their Principal Investigator.


Candidates should have a PhD (submitted or nearly submitted at the time of application) with an experience of, and interest in one of the following areas:


-Planning, Social Science and Built Environment


-Digital Business Models


-Digital Innovation and Policy


-Data Driven Asset Management


-Digital Twins and Computer Vision Techniques for Infrastructure Monitoring and Construction Applications


-Data and Information Management
