Founded in 1994 and awarded the University title in 2016, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is a publicly funded university dedicated to the advancement of learning and teaching, through a diverse offering of academic and research programmes up to doctoral level in teacher education and complementary disciplines, such as the social sciences and humanities.  The University aspires to further enhance its role as a leading university in the Asia Pacific region and beyond, with a focus on educational research, development and innovation and recognized for its excellence in nurturing outstanding and caring professionals as well as the impact of scholarship.

Chair Professors / Professors / Associate Professors

 

The University is seeking to appoint senior academics who are creative, future-oriented with a passion for their work and a willingness to lead teams of bright and young academics towards successful careers and making a positive impact in their communities.

 

Applicants for Professorship are expected to have a strong publication record, leadership experience, an international reputation and network, and the ability to contribute to collaborative research; applicants for Associate Professorship should be able to demonstrate potential for leadership in research, teaching and service.  Some track records of administrative experiences are appreciated.  Candidates will be expected to participate in administrative leadership, to secure external funding, to contribute to the strategic development of academic programmes and associated student practicums, to serve the profession at large, and to teach effectively within the university.  Applicants should also have an appreciation of the rewards and challenges of working in a multicultural context.

 

 

Faculty of Humanities

 

The Faculty of Humanities comprises four cognate Departments, namely: Chinese Language Studies, English Language Education, Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, and Literature and Cultural Studies.

Department of Chinese Language Studies

 

Chinese Language Studies (Ref : CPP/CHL/0219)

 

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Chinese Language or a related discipline.  The candidates should preferably have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Chinese Language Education; Teaching Chinese as a Second or Foreign Language; and Chinese Linguistics.

 

Department of English Language Education

 

English Language Studies (Ref : CPP/ELE/0219)

 

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in English Language or a related discipline.  The candidates should preferably have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Teaching English as a second or foreign language; English Language Education; English as a medium of instruction; Language-in-education policy; and e-English.

 

Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies

 

Linguistics (Ref : CPP/LML/0219)

 

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Linguistics or a related discipline.  The candidates should preferably have expertise in one or more of the following areas: second language acquisition; grammar and discourse studies; sociolinguistics; world Englishes; and corpus linguistics.

 

Department of Literature and Cultural Studies

 

Literature and Cultural Studies, Post 1 (Ref : CPP/LCS/0219)

 

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in literary studies, cultural studies, or another humanities discipline. Applicants’ professional experience and research expertise should be in one or more of the following areas: world literature, comparative literature, literature and translation, film and media studies, visual and popular culture.

 

The department particularly welcomes candidates with a demonstrated investment in the role of the humanities inside and outside the university, and who wish to invest in impactful knowledge transfer and community outreach.

 

Chinese Literature and Cultural Studies, Post 2 (Ref : CPP/LCS/0219)

 

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in literary studies or a related humanities discipline.  Applicants’ professional experience and research expertise should be in classical, modern, and/or contemporary Chinese literature and culture, and their areas of interest should complement the document’s existing strengths in classical Chinese literature and modern Sinophone literature and culture. Applicants are particularly invited whose breadth of interest extends to the department’s other areas of focus, which are in Anglophone literature, cultural studies, and history.
