Position description

The School of Dentistry (SOD) is seeking a full-time Director of Curriculum and Academic Enrichment for development and management of the dental curriculum. and advancing faculty utilization of new teaching and evaluation resources.

The Director will spend 80% time assisting SOD faculty in curriculum development and outcome evaluation for pre - and post-doctoral dental students and residents in advanced training programs and managing the education office staff. The Director will spend 20% time serving as an expert resource for continual quality improvement in the teaching and assessment skills of the faculty, including developing and implementing a variety of faculty development programs.

a) Develop and implement curriculum improvements to advance dental and inter-professional education.
b) Provide educational consultation on innovative curriculum design and program assessment methodologies for all educational activities in the SOD.
c) Develop and implement program assessment methodologies, provide critical analysis and summaries of program progress, and make recommendations for curriculum advances to the administration.
d) Monitor the Commission on Dental Accreditation educational standards for updates and provide timely recommendation for appropriate curriculum adjustments to ensure curriculum compliance.
e) Responsible for administrating, data collection and final reports of student course evaluations including didactic and preclinical and clinical evaluation.
f) Serve as a curriculum resource to the Curriculum Committee and faculty.
g) Support and serve on School of Dentistry and UCLA committees, as directed.
h) Serve as the expert user & trainer of electronic curricular tools, including but not limited to, grading system, course management system and curriculum database.
i) Develop and implement faculty development program(s).
j) Design and write funding proposals to federal agencies, foundations and other sources for support of faculty and curricular development .
k) Other duties as assigned.
I) This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

• • Doctorate in Education (EdD or PhD)-REQUIRED
• Demonstrate expertise and experience in pedagogy, curriculum design, research and evaluation-REQUIRED
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills-REQUIRED
• Experience of grant preparation/writing for proposals to provide financial support for curriculum and/or faculty development- PREFERRED
• Experience in applied educational research or program evaluation or Social Research Methodology-PREFERRED
• Leadership and team building skills-PREFERRED
• Experience in a healthcare discipline-PREFERRED

Salary and level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
