Position Overview

The Director of Academic Planning and Assessment is responsible for leading university-wide academic planning, program assessment, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures alignment between academic programs, strategic goals, and accreditation standards, fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate academic planning processes across the university

  • Oversee development, review, modification, and termination of academic programs

  • Guide academic units in creating measurable learning outcomes, curriculum maps, assessment methods, and improvement plans

  • Ensure assessment results are analyzed and used to improve curricula and pedagogy (“closing the loop”)

  • Manage program reviews, accreditation processes, and institutional ranking activities

  • Analyze and report academic performance indicators: learning outcomes, retention, progression, completion, and post-graduation outcomes

  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and other offices to ensure data integrity

  • Develop policies, procedures, and goals for assessment processes

  • Promote evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the institution

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of assessment management systems

  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned


Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree required; PhD preferred in a relevant field

  • Minimum 8 years of full-time experience in academic assessment, planning, or institutional effectiveness in higher education

  • Proven experience in developing academic programs and accreditation reports

  • Strong coordination and collaboration skills with academic units

  • Excellent time management, leadership, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong writing and communication skills for reports and strategic documentation

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
