Job Description

The Research Director for the CDI will be appointed as Associate or Full Professor in Inclusive Special Education. The role is within the School of Education, which aspires to lead in:

  • Inclusive and antiracist pedagogy and practice

  • Digital learning and instructional technologies

  • Experiential learning

The CDI has an international reputation in inclusive education and disability-related research. The Research Director will oversee research direction and grants, mentor students, collaborate with faculty, and contribute to teaching in inclusive special education or research methodologies.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctorate in special education, inclusive education, or closely related field

  • Successful and active research agenda in inclusive special education and disability

  • Previous experience as a PI on external grants

  • Evidence of success in securing funding

  • Record of successful university teaching

Preferred / Job-Specific:

  • Background in disability studies, inclusive education, critical special education, inclusive education policy, inclusive post-secondary education, or technology innovation focused on disability

  • Experience seeking federal and foundation research or large technical assistance grants

  • Administrative, project management, and collaborative experience leading teams of faculty, staff, and graduate students

  • Background in quantitative methods, CritQuant, big data, or GIS mapping

  • Experience working with diverse communities and meeting diverse student needs inclusively

  • Commitment to asset- and equity-based perspectives in inclusive education


Responsibilities

  • Serve as Syracuse-located Research Director (not remote)

  • Collaborate with and follow direction of CDI leadership

  • Support ongoing research efforts and oversee grants of the CDI

  • Lead grant writing initiatives

  • Mentor and advise graduate and undergraduate students in research

  • Collaborate with other faculty and university units

  • Engage in CDI activities

  • Teach undergraduate or graduate courses in inclusive special education or research methodologies
