Full Time Professorial Stream/Assistant Professor Teaching Stream in Physical Activity Studies - Physical Fitness

The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, York University, invites applications for a teaching stream tenure-track position in Physical Activity Studies – Physical Fitness at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

A Ph.D. in Kinesiology focusing on human exercise physiology, biomechanics, biodynamics or a related field is required. The position requires teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate courses and to provide creative experiential-based educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the classroom and applied settings within the School’s emerging Integrated Physical Activity for Life Program. 


The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for teaching in experiential-based university undergraduate courses focusing on the benefits of physical fitness for individual and groups, and the development of movement skills and/or sport skills to promote physical activity participation. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in, or show promise of, applying physiological principles to designing and implementing activity programs targeted at improving physical fitness related tasks of daily living across the lifespan. Applicants will demonstrate excellence or show clear potential in the practical application, translation of theoretical physiological, biomechanical and biodynamic concepts in their teaching. The successful candidate will demonstrate passion for student learning and curricular innovation within applied settings. Evidence of experiential education, technology enhanced learning, process-based assessments and community-based learning is preferred. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work.
