Applications are invited for a part-time temporary lecturer position at the University of California, Santa Barbara to teach ED 228C, Functional Academics and Inclusion, in the Teacher Education Program during the Fall 2020 quarter. This course is designed for Education Specialist Teacher Candidates who are pursuing an Extensive Support Needs credential. The course is designed to teach candidates the planning and collaboration skills required to provide meaningful inclusion for students with the most significant support needs in general education settings. The appointment is 33 percent time for fall quarter with the possibility of reappointment. Salary is based on UCSB salary scales. For primary consideration, apply by July 16, 2020.

Instructors are expected to attend all class sessions, read, respond, and evaluate student assignments, and assign grades adhering to all department guidelines. Additionally, instructors are expected to attend all course planning meetings.

Required: Teacher certification in the State of California or equivalent at the time of application
Required: Minimum of three years experience as a public or private school Education Specialist classroom teacher at the time of application.
Additional: At least one quarter/semester experience teaching a college level course or providing professional development services to teachers or other education personnel by the time of appointment.
Preferred: Academic knowledge of inclusive programming and collaborative best practices, and experience implementing them and/or overseeing their implementation.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Prior experience with classroom supervision or mentoring of pre-service teachers.
Preferred: Familiarity with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE).
